Life takes place on foot
Performance · 2010

In slow-moving traffic in central Sydney, five teams of colour-coded performers roll car wheels in sets of four through city streets as though the car body has disappeared. Life takes place on foot provokes a sense of dismay that quickly turns into assent from the audience.
The performance occupies the space of five vehicles, gently and in a light-hearted way asking whether roads should be turned over for people to use as pedestrians, instead of being burdened by vehicles. In response, there is a sense of play shared by everyone using the road. The other pedestrians, cars and vehicles, even huge concrete trucks, take on caring roles and good-naturedly share the space with the performing cars.
