Films
Sylvia Schwenk makes films across Asia, Australia, Europe, and the United States. Her independent film projects give access to worlds that are ordinarily out of reach, like a maximum-security prison, a hidden elevator in a shopping centre, a naval base, a cemetery, and a riverside community in Indonesia. Other films grow out of her works of socially engaged performance art, re-presenting them to new audiences in new contexts, from a large human kaleidoscope performed under a copper beech tree on the grounds of a castle in Germany to a football grand final in a stadium in Tasmania.
In recent years Sylvia has focused on her studio-based practice, expanding absurdity and deepening her engagement with the paintings of your thoughts become your world. The pandemic interrupted her public practice, and a serious injury in 2023 extended that pause. With her recovery complete, she is now available for new film and performance art commissions and collaborations.
Works are available as limited edition films and photographs.

Films from socially engaged works of performance art
These films are created by Sylvia Schwenk from the works of socially enaged performance art that she conceptualises and directs. The films re-present the performances so that they can be seen by new audiences in different contexts. They are not simply a documentation of the work.
For collectors
Films and photographs are available as limited editions. Unframed photographs start from €700. Film editions are available by enquiry.
